A rowdy was shot dead late on Tuesday evening soon after an Iftar party near HKB mosque in Shivajinagar.

The Shivajinagar police said that six people on three bikes assaulted three persons, one of them rowdy-sheeter Parveej, around 8.55 p.m. Parveej was grievously injured and rushed to Bowring hospital, where he succumbed. The other two – Wajid and Asif – managed to escape with injuries.

Police suspect that three of the attackers were Shabbir, Zameer and Thansher.

The police said that the clash could have been a fallout of Parveej beating up Shabbir on Monday.

The incident has concerns about the failure of the police to gather intelligence about a clash that saw the use of firearms in the core city area. Earlier this week, a rowdy was hacked to death inside a café in Vijaya Nagar.
