Revellers make a beeline to Brigade Road in Bangalore

December 31, 2013 08:44 pm | Updated 10:08 pm IST - BANGALORE:

As curtains fell on another year, Bangaloreans turned up in droves at a glitzy Brigade Road to welcome 2014.

Crowds, comprising mostly youngsters, started pouring into the Central Business district of Bangalore comprising Brigade Road, M G Road and Residency Road, as soon as the sun set on 2013.

The visibly excited revellers were shooting pictures of their friends against the backdrop of the decked up streets.

Twenty nine year old techie Radika Sharma was elated about finally having a day to spend with her friends. On her way to a pub for the ‘New Year’s Eve Party’ with her friends, she was looking forward to ushering the New Year with a bang. “I have always enjoyed the night life on New Year eve on Brigade Road for the last ten years”. Sharing her anxiety about the upcoming year, she hoped the coming year would also be as good as the year that passed.

Kavya A, who has recently moved to Bangalore from a quiet town in Andhra Pradesh, seemed a little baffled with the proceedings. Celebrating her first New Year in Bangalore, the 18-year-old said “New Year in Bangalore is slightly over the top, but it is also exhilarating in a way.”

Having just missed a flight to his hometown in Madhya Pradesh, the 50-year-old Ahmed, had come to Brigade Road for shopping, but decided to stay on through the night and watch the revelry.
