Police take precautionary measure to prevent any untoward incident during Tipu Jayanthi

In a precautionary measure to prevent any untoward incident during Tipu Jayanthi celebrations, the City Police Commissionerate has restricted any kind of public processions on Friday.

Police Commissioner T. Suneel Kumar said, "To make Tipu Jayanthi peaceful, a circular has been issued restricting all kinds of public processions on Friday. All security arrangements will be made to maintain law and order situation in the city. Thirteen thousand policemen will be deployed along with Garuda Force, 30 Karnataka State Reserve Police and 20 City Armed Reserve platoons in sensitive and hypersensitive areas. Tipu Jayanti should be celebrated indoors. If people try to go on processions on roads, stringent action will be taken against the organisers. A place is also provided for people who opposes the Tipu Jayanthi and they should protest only in those places. If they protest in other places, police will taken action against them too.”

He added that preventive detention will continue till Thursday night and directions have been issued to the jurisdictional police to take history-sheeters into custody.

Prohibitory order in Kolar

A prohibitory order under Section 144 of the IPC has been promulgated in Kolar district as a precautionary measure in view of Tipu Jayanthi.

The order will be in force from 9 a.m. of November 9 to 9 a.m. of November 11, Deputy Commissioner G. Sathyavathy said in a release.

Section 144 was promulgated to maintain law and order in the district, as some organisations have declared their intention to oppose Tipu Jayanthi celebrations by the State government, the release added.
