Protests continued on Friday over the chemistry re-examination question paper leak as hundreds of students supported by a few organisations tried to lay siege to the PU Board office here.
Police chased away the protestors when they tried to break the barricades put up in front of the main gate. The police also detained several students as a preventive measure. Heavy deployment of security personnel has been made to ensure law and order, a senior police officer said.
20 suspects held
Intensifying the investigations, CID officials picked up around 20 suspects including a few former lecturers, their family members, PU department officials and students from Bengaluru and Tumakuru in connection with the question paper leak.
The sleuths picked up the suspects after tracking them down through whatsapp from where the leaked question paper was generated. The suspects have been questioned to ascertain the source of leak.
