July 04, 2017 06:43 pm | Updated 06:43 pm IST - Bengaluru

Members of Badavara Hitarakshana Samiti, a city-based NGO, staged a protest in front of Vidhana Soudha on Tuesday by pouring human excreta on themselves to draw the government’s attention to the issue of their alledged displacement and land encroachment by a city-based construction company in Whitefield.

The Samiti members were protesting against the rampant encroachment of government land in Bengaluru East taluk by a developer. They alleged that the tahsildar was hand-in-glove with the builder and accused him of demolishing thier makeshift houses on the land. Despite bringing it to the notice officials, no action has been taken, they said.

The Vidhana Soudha police rushed to the spot and took the protestors into preventive detention.
