Bonded labourers took out a protest march from Ambedkar Bhavan to Pavagada Taluk office in Pavagada of Tumakuru district today demanding that the taluk administration consider all the persons who had given applications between 1990 and 2015 as bonded labourers and provide them compensation.

The protest march was carried out under the leadership of Tumakuru district secretary of Jeetha Vimukthi Karnataka, T. Hanumantharaya, demanding rehabilitation of the 404 bonded labourers who have already been identified by the taluk administration.

Mr. Hanumantharaya alleged that the administration had conducted the survey only three times between 1990 and 2015 to identify bonded labourers in the taluk whereas the authorities concerned have to conduct survey every year. He also demanded housing and land to the bonded labourers who have come out of the evil system.

Members of the taluk unit of Jeetha Vimukthi Karnataka, Gangadhara of Palavalli, Venkataramanappa of Chinnammanahalli, Thippeswamy of Vadanakallu and others participated in the protest march.
