Prime accused Shivakumar is repeat offender: police

April 12, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 05:44 am IST - Bengaluru:

The prime accused of the paper leak case, Shivakumar was arrested in 2011 in a similar case by the Gubbi police and was acquitted by the court due to lack of evidence. Shivakumar, who continued his activities unabated, was arrested again for question paper leaks in 2012, 2013 and 2014, and managed to get bail every time, a senior police officer said, adding that this would make CID officials suspect the role of the police who handled the case.

Shivakumar was a repeat offender and under the scanner of the police, and despite this, he continued his activities, the officer said. CID sleuths are on a massive manhunt for Shivakumar and his nephews Kiran and Kumaraswamy.

Meanwhile, the police visited the house and office of the other accused, Manjunath, to conduct Mahazar as part of the investigations. Manjunath confessed that though he earned a decent salary through his teaching profession and though LIC policies, he had earned Rs. 50 lakh by way of the racket this year.
