A 23-year-old pregnant woman allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself in her house in Thogarugunte village in Sira taluk of Tumakuru district in the early hours of Monday.
The police said that the deceased has been identified as Shweta, wife of Srinivas, a labourer. She was eight months pregnant.
According to police, her husband used to harass her physically and mentally demanding dowry. He used to drink everyday and pick up a quarrel with her and beat her.
The Sira police station has registered a case and arrested Srinivas.
