Two Assistant Commissioners of Police (ACP) and a Police Inspector in the city have come a under the scanner after a private complaint accusing them of forgery, cheating and misuse of office was filed against them in the Lokayukta court on Monday.
The accused are Hulimavu Inspector Jayaram, Mico Layout Division ACP Veerabhadre Gowda, Cubbon Park Subdivision ACP H.K. Venkataswamy and his son Tejas.
Same family
The complainant, M. Umesh, is a relative of ACP Venkataswamy, whosehouse had been raided by the Lokayukta sleuths in the year 2008.
Mr. Umesh claimed that in order to cheat other members of the Hindu undivided family, Mr. Swamy misled them saying the Lokayukta police had seized all the property documents during the raid.
Conspiracy
According to the complainant, ACP Veerabhadre Gowda — who incidentally got the Chief Minister’s medal two weeks ago — along with Hulimavu Inspector Jayaram, hatched the conspiracy along with ACP Venkataswamy to forge and fabricate property documents.
Lokayukta special court judge N.K. Sudhindra Rao posted the matter for further hearing on April 12.
Huge property
According to Mr. Umesh, his undivided family had inherited a huge property managed by ACP Venkataswamy’s father.
Partition suit
When ACP Venkataswamy claimed that the documents were seized, Mr. Umesh grew suspicious and filed a partition suit in 2009.
During the hearing of the suit, the complainant charged that a “totally fabricated” partition deed, dated November 15, 1982, was produced wherein properties purchased during 1986, 1987 and 2005 were shown.
Mr. Umesh said the Hulimavu Police Inspector Jayaram disobeyed the court order directing him to investigate the case against ACP Venkataswamy, and instead sent antisocial elements to the complainant’s house to pressure him to withdraw the civil suit and also to hand over his cable TV business to the ACP’s son, Tejas.
