The Kempe Gowda Nagar police have booked a case against the former legislator, R.V. Devraj, and Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee block secretary B.G. Manjunath for violating the code of conduct by distributing free gifts to woo voters.

Based on a tipoff, a nodal officer from the Election Commission raided Ambika Chicken Centre in Nanjappa Block and confiscated 65 wall clocks with the logo of the Congress and images of Mr. Devraj and Mr. Manjunath.

Enquiries have revealed the clocks were being stored to distribute to the voters in the area at Mr. Devraj’s behest.

This is the first case the police have booked after the election code of conduct was imposed.

The KG Nagar police have booked a case against Karigowda, the chicken shop owner also.
