Police arrest trio for attacking Manipuri student

City police have arrested three youths for assaulting a Manipuri student in the city on Wednesday night.

Samuel, a Manipuri student was attacked by a gang of three youths on Chikkabhyrathi Road, Kothanur. The arrested have now been identified as Joy Sachin (23), Jagadish (20) and Vijay (19) who work for a furniture shop in the area. Police sources say that the three were drunk and creating a ruckus in the area, when Samuel, who was passing-by went up and objected to their behaviour. The three soon overpowered Samuel and attacked him.

Though residents of the area alerted by the ruckus, tried to nab the trio they had fled from the spot. Kothanur police have now arrested the trio.
