‘Pen-down’ strike at BBMP headquarter

December 30, 2014 01:50 pm | Updated 01:50 pm IST - Bengaluru:

Normal work at the BBMP headquarter was affected for more than two hours when hundreds of employees staged a ‘pen-down’ strike following an alleged assault on one of the employees last week.

The protesters demanded that only the KAS and IAS officers should be made Zonal officers and the officers who are working on deputation should be sent back to their parental department.

The protestors disrupted the council meeting to draw the attention of the higher ups and later staged a protest at the campus to press their demand.

The protest was called off soon after the BBMP Commissioner, Lakshminarayana and Mayor along with other officials rushed to the spot and assured fulfilment of their demands.

The protest was triggered following an alleged assault on Town Planning Officer, Govindaraju, by an RTI activist, identified as Bhaskar, last week.
