A 33-year-old pedestrian was killed in a hit and run accident at Bettahalasuru, near Chikkajala, on Saturday night.

The deceased has been identified as Anand, a resident of Gowribidanur. He was working as a labourer and had come down to the city to meet his friend in Yelahanka. The accident occurred at around 8.30 p.m. when he was crossing the road to board a bus when a speeding vehicle mowed him down, killing him on the spot.

Passers-by found Anand lying in a pool of blood and shifted him to a nearby private hospital where the doctors declared him as brought dead. The Chikkajala traffic police are trying to obtain CCTV footages to identify the speeding vehicle. A case has been registered.
