The Special Court dealing with Karnataka Control of Organised Crime Act (KCOCA) on Thursday rejected the bail plea of Obalaraju and his associate Ranganath, who were booked by the CID in the II Pre-university chemistry question paper leakage case.
Obalaraju (51), who is accused number 3 in the case and was personal assistant to the Minister of State for Medical Education, had approached the High Court recently and got a stay for eight weeks citing that KCOCA cannot be invoked against him.
While the CID was challenging the stay to get it vacated, Obalaraju, along with Ranganath, approached the court seeking bail, a senior police officer said.
The court rejected their bail plea citing that the matter was sub judice .
