Gays, lesbians, bisexuals, transgenders, sex workers, and anyone who supported sexuality minorities participated in the Bengaluru Pride March and Karnataka Queer Habba 2014, organised by the Coalition for Sexual Workers and Sexual Minorities, here on Sunday.
Age, nationality and sexual orientation no bar, the participants danced, sang and celebrated as they marched from the city railway station to the Chandrashekar Azad Grounds in Malleswaram.
The participants, who had come from different parts of the country and also from other countries, were spread across various walks of life. Students were seen in large numbers. Many held placards appealing to society to ‘Stop locking people in closets’ and some declaring ‘Hate is not our culture’ and ‘Right to privacy is a fundamental right’.
Most of who participated in the sixth edition of the event echoed the demand to repeal Section 36A of the Karnataka Police Act.
