The Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) will start issuing notices to property owners who have not paid property tax beginning January 2011.
The palike has set a target of Rs. 1,500 crore towards property tax collection for the current financial year. Of this, Rs. 904 crore has already been collected till December 9, BBMP Commissioner Siddaiah said in a release.
He said the survey work to bring all the properties within the palike limits was in progress in all the eight zones.
The survey would be completed by this month-end and notices issued to defaulting property owners thereafter, the commissioner said.
Over 10 lakh
The number of property owners who have paid the tax this year had crossed 10 lakh, as against 8.64 lakh in 2009-10 and 8.4 lakh in 2008-09, he added.
