No track of Occupancy Certificates and Commencement Certificates in BBMP

November 29, 2014 12:50 am | Updated 12:50 am IST - Bengaluru:Bengaluru:

Most of the Occupancy Certificates (OC) and Commencement Certificates (CC) issued by the Town Planning Department of BBMP during 2010-2014 are unaccounted for, raising suspicion of forgery and fake certificates being issued.

Information given out by the department has revealed that officials had sanctioned plans for 1,298 buildings of which only 350 have been given CCs and 95 given OCs. Councillor N R Ramesh, who raised the issue in the council meet on Friday, claimed that more than 30,000 buildings had come up during the period and alleged that officials had issued fake certificates, deceiving BBMP of revenue to the tune of hundreds of crores.

BBMP Commissioner M Lakshminarayan said that he would get the Additional Commissioner (Administration) to probe the allegations and submit a report in a month.

Gali Anjaneya temple work

Delay in completion of widening of the Rajakaluve next to Gali Anjaneya temple and construction of a bridge caused a furore in the council meet on Friday.

Councillors from the area objected to the delay. Chief Engineer (Storm Water Drain) Ananthaswamy was taken to task by the councillors and the mayor. Mr Ananthaswamy explained that the Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the work was done two years ago and the contract given out. He said that the two-year delay had resulted in cost escalation and the project is being reviewed by the chief auditor.

Mayor N Shantakumari gave a month’s time to start the work. Mr Ananthaswamy and the BBMP commissioner promised to work towards beginning the work by December 20.
