After days of monitoring the dispatch of thousands of photocopies of II PU answer scripts, Minister of State for Primary and Secondary Education Kimmane Ratnakar on Saturday mooted the idea of doing away with dispatching photocopies from the coming academic year.
At a press conference here, Mr. Ratnakar said he had been reviewing the process of dispatching photocopies and felt that the process was cumbersome.
“Answer scripts of different subjects are kept in different sealed packets. Lakhs of these packets need to be accessed to provide photocopies to students,” he said, and stressed the need for an alternative. The process now was heavily dependent on physical labour, he said, hinting that there were chances for errors. “The process is taking place round the clock. What happens if the power supply is cut at 11 p.m.?” he said.
Asked what the alternative could be, he said the process needs to be deliberated. He said one alternative could be scanning the answer scripts and emailing them to students. The Minister also said there was a need to overhaul the processes of re-totalling and re-evaluation.
