Minister of State for Women and Child Development Umashree came under the radar for the wrong reasons when the driver of her car was fined for not having an emission certificate.

The Cubbon Park Traffic police were carrying out checks inside the Cubbon Park as part of Air Pollution prevention month being observed in November. As many as 500 vehicles were checked among which 100 did not have an emission certificate (EC).

The Minister will now have to produce the required documents within a week. Emission tests are supposed to be conducted every six months. Not possessing an EC attracts a fine of Rs. 1,000.
