Mineral water plant owner held on rape charge

The Rajagopal Nagar police have arrested the owner of a mineral water plant for allegedly raping a 17-year-old girl who was working close to his office.

According to the police, the incident came to light on Friday when the girl’s uncle noticed she had come home early from work.

Upon inquiring, the victim started giving evasive replies following which he went to her workplace to find that she had been not been at work from the afternoon.

When further questioned, the girl narrated the incident following which the family filed a complaint.

Based on the complaint, the police arrested Vasanth Kumar (27) and booked him under rape and various sections of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences and remanded him in judicial custody.
