The Upparpet police have registered a case against the board members of State Film Choreographers Association for allegedly misusing ₹75 lakh, which was meant for the betterment of the association.

Based on a complaint by Ramamurthy, a member of the Karnataka Chalanachitra Nrithya Nirdesshakara and Nirthya Kalavidara Sangha, police registered an FIR against the president, vice president, secretary and treasurer, along with nine other members, charging them with criminal breach of trust and cheating.

In his complaint, Ramamurthy said that the accused had withdrawn the amount from the association violating the bylaws of the association and without the knowledge of members, since March last year. The members have neither informed about the transaction not convened a meeting, he alleged.

In October last year, other board members realised that the money was missing and questioned the president and his associates. They explained that the money was withdrawn to buy property for the association, but did not provide any documents to substantiate their claim.

When the office-bearers tried to avoid the questions of the members, Ramamurthy filed a cheating case against them with the Upparpet police seeking a detailed probe.
