The process of affixing display cards in taxis with details of the driver is gaining momentum with the May 31 deadline fast approaching.
The city traffic police had extended the March 31 deadline by two months in view of the Assembly elections.
The traffic police had asked the owners of all taxis (including airport taxis), maxicabs, tempo travellers and cabs of travel agencies, call centres, BPOs, IT companies and other organisations to provide details of their drivers along with their photographs for verification.
The cards are being distributed at the offices of the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic, East), BMTC Complex, Shivajinagar; Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic, West), C.V. Raman Road, Yeshwantpur Circle; Assistant Commissioner of Police (Traffic, South), South End Road, Basavanagudi; Assistant Commissioner of Police (Traffic, Southeast), BBMP office, Audugodi, and at Pulikeshinagar traffic police station, near Bangalore East Railway Station, Fraser Town.
The traffic police have said that strict action will be initiated against drivers from June 1 if they do not display the card in their vehicle. Cases will be booked against them under the Motor Vehicles Act.
