People’s Democratic Party (PDP) leader Abdul Nasir Maudany, lodged in the central prison in Karnataka following his arrest in connection with the 2008 Bangalore serial bomb blasts, has been shifted to Manipal Hospital for further treatment after his health condition deteriorated on Friday.

Mr. Maudany, who was allowed by the High Court to avail treatment in a private hospital a few days ago, had been admitted to Soukya International Holistic Health Centre, a private hospital in Whitefield in Bangalore, amidst tight security earlier this month.

Since he was suffering from diabetes and cardiac ailments, his health condition deteriorated on Friday and he was rushed to Manipal Hospital, prison authorities said.

The doctors at Manipal Hospital are treating him at ICU. Tight security has been deployed at Manipal hospital to monitor any untoward incidents, the authorities said.
