At noon on Tuesday, Abdul Nasir Maudany, accused in the Coimbatore Blasts case and People's Democratic Party leader, was shifted from the Parapana Agrahara Central jail here to Soukya Holistic Health and Ayurveda Treatment Centre.

A posh “wellness” centre was the Government of Karnataka's choice for the terror accused when the Supreme Court quashed his bail plea. The court had instructed the government to find him an ayurvedic treatment centre in the city, rejecting his plea to be sent back to Kerala for treatment. Soukya's roster boasts of a guest list that includes ‘A-list celebrities' such as the Duchess of Cornwall Camilla and pop star Fergie to the who's who of Bangalore

Maudany's stay at Soukya will cost the government a whopping Rs. 8 lakh, according to sources. It is learnt from sources that Maudany, who suffers from spinal spondilitis, neck pain and diabetes, will undergo “holistic” treatment at Soukya for the next 28 days.

A combination of ayurveda, homeopathy and naturopathy, combined with daily Panchakarma treatment, has been prescribed. A police team, comprising up to 12 policemen, will guard the Soukya premises.

On Tuesday, his initial consultation lasted one-and-half hours, police sources said. The police had taken Maudany for treatment to the same venue on May 25. He was turned away because the proprietors of the centre were travelling abroad and were not available to authorise the treatment.
