The Ramamurthy Nagar police have exhumed the body of a 57-year-old man, which was buried a fortnight ago, for post-mortem based on the allegation made by his son that his father had been killed by his mother and sister.
According to the police, the deceased Ankaiah (57), a Group-D employee of a nationalised bank, reportedly died due to cardiac arrest on January 28. The family buried the body at the Shanti Nagar burial ground.
However, the police, with the permission of the Tahsildar, exhumed the body and sent it for post-mortem based on the complaint lodged by Ankaiah’s son Suresh Babu alleging that his mother, sister and brother-in-law had killed his father over a property dispute.
While Ankaiah’s wife Nagaratna deposed before the police that her husband died due to cardiac arrest, Mr. Babu alleged that Ankaiah had planned to bequeath his property to his only son Mr. Babu, as his two daughters had married against his wishes.
“We had arguments over this issue several times and I had to move out of the house,” Mr. Babu said in his complaint alleging that his mother, sister and brother-in-law, who were eyeing for the property, had killed him and given him a quiet burial.
The Ramamurthy Nagar police are awaiting the post-mortem report to ascertain the cause of death and further investigations.
