A security guard was stabbed by her husband during an altercation on the high-security Infosys office premises situated in Manipal Centre on Dickenson Road in Bangalore on Monday afternoon.
Rosemary (41), stabbed in her arms and legs, is in hospital. Her condition is stable.
Ulsoor police said that Rosemary’s husband, Loganathan (46), a cab driver, had come to meet her. The police said that Loganathan, an alcoholic, had stopped coming home for a month but would turn up at his wife’s workplace to demand money.
He had come on Saturday too but was turned away by her. He came on Monday demanding money. This led to an argument between the two, following which the other security staff asked Rosemary to go out of the premises to resolve the issue.
While the couple was walking downstairs from fourth floor, a fellow security guard said that he heard a scream and rushed to the third floor to see Rosemary profusely bleeding and Loganathan fleeing, according to the police. “She was immediately shifted to Bowring Hospital,” the police said.
The couple have two daughters, aged 18 and 11. The Ulsoor police have launched a search for Loganathan.
High security zone
Infosys’s premises is classified as high security zone following terror alerts, and there are upgraded security measures in place, including multiple checking for visitors. But as Loganathan was familiar with all the security staff, they did not bother to keep an eye on him, said a security official.
A communiqué from Infosys said that the assailant was known to the security guard. “We understand the cause of the attack is personal and unrelated to our business. We are providing the victim with all possible assistance, and will continue to help the police in the investigation,” it added.
