Police picked up a young man for what they assumed was suspicious behaviour near the Bharatiya Janata Party office here on Tuesday.
The Malleswaram police said the man, Pasha, was talking on his phone in the area where a blast took place on April 17.
On questioning him, they found that he was only there to help a friend contracted to a repair centre, with some work.
“As it is a sensitive area, we decided to question him. We came to know that he is a local boy and holds a diploma from a private college where he and his friend studied together,” said the Malleswaram police.
Hit and run
Bhattarahalli resident Ganesh (23), who was on his way back from work in Hoodi, was killed when his two-wheeler was hit by an unidentified vehicle, near the RTO Office, on Monday night.
The accident came to light when Ganesh’s father received a call from a passerby who used Ganesh’s phone. By the time his father reached the spot, it was too late to do anything.
Ends his life
Christopher (29), an electrician and a driver, died after he consumed poison in his residence on Thimmaiah Road in Shivajinagar on Tuesday morning. Police said he had argued with his parents over his alcohol addiction prior to his suicide.
Student takes poison
Failure in SSLC exams led Dilip Kumar (15) of St. Meera’s High School in Cambridge Layout to end his life by consuming pesticide on Monday. He had gone to school on his father’s motorcycle around noon to check his results in a cyber cafe. However, when he did not return even after an hour, his family and neighbours started searching for him. To their horror, they found him lying near the school. He was rushed to Bowring and later to Chinmaya Hospital, where he died. A large crowd gathered at the boy’s house in M.V. Gardens in Ulsoor.
Dilip was the son of G. Kumar, a local Dalit Sangharsha Samiti (DSS) leader and a construction supervisor, and Veni, a homemaker. His older sister, Nethravathi, was so traumatised she had not bothered to check her results yet.
Hangs himself
Upset over his sister’s failure in her SSLC exams, a 19-year-old commerce student hanged himself at home in B.V. Garden in Ulsoor on Tuesday.
Shekhar, an RBANMS College student, had been upset ever since his sister’s results were declared.

Bharathi (26), daughter of a daily wage labourer, hanged herself at her home in Cholapalya off Magadi Road on Tuesday.
Her father Mani told police she had graduated from college and he was looking out for a groom for her. She also suffered from depression, he said.
