A 31-year-old man working as a manager with Food Corporation of India was mowed down by a speeding car and killed in Jayanagar 4 ‘T’ Block late on Tuesday night.

The deceased has been identified as Suresh, hailing from Andhra Pradesh. He had recently come to the city after a transfer to Bengaluru and was a resident of Jayanagar 4 ‘T’ Block. He was walking on the left side of the road along with his wife at around 10 p.m. when the speeding car ran over him, the police said.

A speeding car knocked him down and Suresh suffered severe head injuries due to the impact of the fall. Though he was immediately shifted to a nearby private hospital, he succumbed to injuries. His wife escaped unhurt in the accident.

The car driver, who caused the accident, abandoned his vehicle at the spot and fled from the scene. The Jayanagar traffic police have now registered a case and are tracking down the vehicle owner.
