A 39-year-old hotel staff was hacked to death at Ramaiah Layout in Banasawadi on Friday night.

The deceased has been identified as Sanjay Tamang, a native of Assam, who used to work in a hotel and lived in a rented house along with 12 others.

Tamang was returning home after work around 11.30 p.m. when a group of armed men attacked him with lethal weapons. The police said that Tamang was stabbed in his abdomen and chest, besides being hit on his head.

The murder came to light when passers-by noticed Tamang lying in a pool of blood by the roadside and alerted the police.
