A 37-year-old autoriskhaw driver killed himself, allegedly after stabbing his wife at their residence in Ramamurthy Nagar near K.R. Puram on Friday. The deceased, Henry Fernandes, was an auto driver. He got married to Chitra 10 years ago. The couple have two children.
According to the police, Fernandes had a fight with Chitra following which she went to her parents’ house in Devasandra for 10 days. Fernandes convinced her to return to their house with their children.
On Friday around 9 a.m., Fernandes dropped his children to school, and went back to the house by noon. He and Chitra, however, got into a argument. According to the police, he stabbed her multiple times with a knife. “Thinking that he had killed her, Fernandes hanged himself,” said a police officer.
However, Chitra survived the attack.
The incident came to light around 5 p.m. when her brother Mahendra arrived at the house. Devendra rushed her to a hospital where is she is being treated for her injuries.
Police visited the crime scene and shifted the body of Fernandes to a hospital for a post-mortem.
