Man attacked with blade for refusing cigarette

A 23-year-old student from Ivory Coast was attacked with a blade by two men on motorcycle on Sunday night in Banaswadi after he refused to part with a cigarette.

Ammar Khuresh, a resident of Horamavu, is a management student in a city-based college. He was standing outside a roadside shop in Kammanahalli to have tea when two men on a motorcycle approached him and demanded a cigarette.

When Khuresh refused them cigarette, they tried to assault him and slashed him with a blade, police said. The duo sped away after Khuresh raised alarm. He went to a private hospital for treatment before filing complaint.

The Banasawadi police have identified the accused based on the information provided by the locals. “We are on the look out for the attackers and we will arrest them soon,” a senior police officer said.
