Madikeri police may seek direction from DG&IGP

July 19, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 06:04 am IST - Bengaluru:

With the JMFC court in Madikeri directing the jurisdictional police to register an FIR against Minister K.J. George and IPS officers A.M. Prasad and Pronab Mohanty, the Madikeri police are likely to forward the copy of the court order to DG&IGP Om Prakash seeking directions.

This is because the Madikeri Town police who registered an Unnatural Death Report in the case have handed it over to CID, which is probing the case.

While there can be no two reports on the same incident tying the hands of Madikeri police from registering a new FIR, the CID cannot register an FIR as it has not been given the powers of a police station.

Senior officials in the Police Department said the State police chief may direct Vidhana Soudha police to register an FIR and then hand it over to CID, adding that the entire process may take three to four days.
