A 23-year-old lorry driver had a miraculous escape when the vehicle plunged 20 feet from the Nagarbhavi flyover in Summanahalli and crashed on the road below on Thursday night.

The driver, Basavaraju, who suffered a few scratches, was taken to a nearby hospital and discharged later.

According to the police, the driver lost control of the vehicle after he sped over a road hump before entering the flyover and crashed into the parapet wall of the flyover before coming down with the vehicle.

Terming the accident as a “miracle”, the Kamakshipalya police said since the incident occurred at around 11.30.pm, there was no traffic under the bridge.

The police have booked a case of rash and negligent driving against Basavaraju and also for damaging government property.
