A seven-year-old leopard has been trapped in a cage kept by the Forest Department five days ago at Pujaramuddanahalli in Sira taluk of Tumakuru district in the early hours of Monday.

The villagers had complained to the Forest Department about the frequent attacks on their livestock by the leopard and hence the department placed the cage with a bait inside. The leopard which was trapped injured its head by hitting against the cage in an attempt to move out.

Assistant Conservator of Forests Nagaraj said the leopard has sustained minor injuries and will be treated by veterinary doctors. It will be in the department’s custody till evening and will be released into the forest later.
