Members of the All-India Mahila Samskruthika Sanghatane (AIMSS), Bangalore district committee, staged a demonstration here on Friday, International Women’s Day, in protest against the “growing crimes against women.”
H.G. Jayalakshmi, all-India general secretary of the AIMSS, charged that political parties were doing nothing to improve the conditions of women in the country, according to a press release.
Prathibha Kumari, AIMSS Karnataka president, blamed the mass media for portraying obscenity and violence. She attributed this as the reason for the increasing crimes against women.
“The authorities have become mute spectators and political leaders only shed crocodile tears for women,” she said.
Shobha S., AIMSS secretary, called upon people to strengthen the democratic, socio-cultural and politico-legal movement of the organisation.
