Residents of Kumara Park have opposed to the steel flyover proposed to be built by Bangalore Development Authority near Shivananda Circle stating it would not serve the objective of de-congesting traffic in the surrounding areas.

At a press conference on Friday by the residents, one of them, Yogananda S.R., said that the steel flyover project is a ‘stop-gap’ arrangement and lacks broad vision for long-term benefit. The Hare Krishna Road is not wide enough for a flyover and it is impossible to build a service road. The flyover will only shift the present congestion to near Seshadripuram police station and also near ‘Krishna’, the official residence of the chief minister. The ecological balance of the area would also be disturbed, as the project would warrant felling of over 30 rain trees.

“Technical experts from different fields have opined that the flyover would not decongest the traffic on this stretch. A proper survey is needed before taking up this project,” he said.
