KPSC scam: Lok Satta calls for action

December 22, 2013 12:53 am | Updated November 16, 2021 09:00 pm IST - BANGALORE:

Members of the Lok Satta Party have demanded that the State government take action against those officials named as accused in the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) inquiry into the Karnataka Public Service Commission (KPSC) recruitment scam.

In a memorandum submitted to the Chief Minister on Saturday, the activists pointed out that the CID’s request for permission from the government to prosecute the tainted officials has been pending for the last three months.

“Why is the State government not granting permission to initiate legal action against those bureaucrats who have been found guilty in the interim report? This shows that there are clear efforts to shield the guilty,” the memorandum said.

The CID’s interim findings were submitted to the Chief Secretary in September.

Another prime demand of the Lok Satta Party was that all answer scripts from the controversial KPSC recruitment process of 2011 be reviewed without delay. They claimed the review would easily separate meritorious and deserving candidates from those who employed dubious methods to get selected into the State’s elite civil services. “By not reviewing the answer scripts, hardworking and meritorious candidates are suffering. The only ones who continue to gain from the scam are those who engineered it and those who benefitted from it,” the memorandum said.
