A group of enthusiastic teachers took time off from their hectic schedule and read stories and analysed the message behind the stories at the three-day annual children’s literature festival ‘Kathavana 2015’ that ended here on Friday.

The event was organised by the Azim Premji Foundation in collaboration with the Department of Education, Government of Karnataka. Teachers and department officials came out with multiple view points on a single story.

A press release by the varsity stated that the theme of this year’s festival was ‘Teachers as reader’ in order to help teachers themselves become readers of good literature. The fest had various activities such as bilingual roundtables for teachers, children’s fest that included story-telling, puppet shows, games around literature, and meet-the-author as well as meet-the-illustrator programmes. This bilingual festival brought together children, storytellers, publishers, teachers, academics and other educators to explore the world of children’s literature.

The release also stated that the festival would help a small group of teachers explore literature and its nuances through reading clubs over six to eight months.
