Friday morning was special for ardent fans of Rajinikant, as the much awaited Kabali hit the screens in the city at 3 a.m.! Fans thronged the theatres across the city to catch the earliest possible show starring their “Thalaiva” in his new avatar, complete with a customised Italian suit, sunglasses and an European watch.
Considering the response from the cine goers, it seems that Kabali has got the biggest opening in the recent years. Tickets of the movie were being sold at Rs. 1,500 in black. However, it appears that price was not an issue for the Rajini fans.
Fans who went to Chennai on Air Asia’s special flight to catch the first show of Kabali on Friday from Bengaluru to Chennai were disappointed, as the airline changed the screening venue at the last minute.
Prominent theatres, which are screening the film, have become “invisible” because of the huge cut-outs, banners and buntings. At Balaji theatre in Viveknagar, the first show was at 3 a.m. and was hosted by local MLA N.A. Haris. Nataraj theatre in Sheshadripuram screened the first show at 5 a.m. and over 1,100 of them watched and cheered as soon as their hero came on screen.
Vehicular movement was affected to a large extent on J.C. Road, Sheshadripuram and Mysore Road, where Kabali is being screened in Urvashi, Nataraj and Cinepolis (ETA Mall).
In the din of Kabali , there were very few audience members for Haro Hakki and Akshate , two Kannada films that released on Friday in some theatres.
