June 15 deadline for linking ration cards with Aadhaar

June 01, 2016 12:00 am | Updated September 16, 2016 09:36 am IST - BENGALURU:

In a bid to weed out bogus ration cards, the Food Department has made it mandatory for all ration card holders in the State, including those with above the poverty line (APL) cards, to link them with their Aadhaar numbers by June 15.

Minister of State for Food and Civil Supplies Dinesh Gundu Rao said here on Tuesday that 89,43,367 ration cards, of the total 1,10,54,613, had been linked with Aadhaar so far.

He hinted that in the due course, some of the facilities may not be extended to those who failed to link their ration cards with Aadhaar.
