“Is there a Government in Karnataka? Whom is it protecting?”
Justice K.L. Manjunath of the High Court asked these questions to Home Minister R. Ashok when he came to the High Court to meet Chief Justice Vikramjit Sen in connection with Friday's violence at the City Civil Court complex.
Addressing the members of the Bangalore Advocates' Association on the High Court premises in the evening, Justice Manjunath said: “We have asked the Home Minister whether there is a Government in Karnataka…and also on maintenance of law and order…”
He, along with two other High Court judges, rushed to the City Civil Court complex around 1 p.m. to assess the situation and to see the damage to vehicles and court properties.
Police contacted
“We saw the police force inside the court. I called up the Police Commissioner and requested him to withdraw the force from the court building…I also called the Director-General and Inspector-General of Police and the Home Minister and requested them to withdraw the police stating that we would control the lawyers…,” Justice Manjunath told the advocates.
He said though senior police officers informed him that instructions had been given to withdraw the police force from the court building, the police personnel did not budge and continued to use their batons. He and his colleagues had taken up the matter with the Home Minister when he came to the High Court.
Patience advised
Justice Manjunath, while seeking forbearance from members of the bar, asked them to complain about the damage to properties and injuries caused to the lawyers.
Justice H.N. Nagamohan Das, who visited the court complex, told lawyers they had nothing to fear. “We should remember that violence cannot be won by violence. We must have patience,” he said.

well..so its the media, police, and the lawyers who were wrong and to
be held responsible and be punished for ruining lives of we civilians or
the ordinary human being!!!
Media persons should be blamed for the Friday's incident, their
instigation was the main cause for that incident, and now, they are
misguiding the people with their one sided news reports. All the
medias have joined together and targeting the whole advocate fraternity, this is not good for the society.
hello all : First of all i wish everyone understands that we are all human beings first !!!! and then behave like one as well. There is a system governing us to behave ourselves and enjoy the rights and privileges being a citizen of this country. It is a fact that Legislature, Judiciary, Executive & the 4th estate - work together in its proper responsibility & show the right direction for the society. No body is above law. I strongly believe that MEDIA is run by intelligent persons at the top order, also most of the lower order media persons knows how to behave politely in society and in any public place and go to the real depth of any subject matter to dig out the truth. There are a lot of brave media personnel ( real heroes ) who have risked their life to bring the real truth before the people of this country. However due to very few insane, senseless & rowdy type persons in lower order the entire media reputation is at stake & the cordial working relationship is disturbed.
all lawyers are not rowdies and all press persons are not gentlemen in my touch too many lawyers are work only for worship and many reporters are doing blackmail business, every one has right justify there activity.
I thought the lawyers were law less people but now even the judge is the same. Everyone saw on TV what happened, why is this judge trying to paint a different picture??
The media and the police are the sole responsible for the incident taken place at City Civil Court complex at Bangalore, the police have entered into the court halls and lathi charged on the Judges and other advocates who are working to give justice to the people. The media telecasted one sided story and why they have not telecasted the lathi charge made by the police. The print media has exposed some of the real facts but why the TV media has not exposed real facts to the public and now a days TV and print media have made up their mind to commercialise the journalism and the media is called as fourth pillar of the constitution and now a days the said pillar is losing its temper.
The reports in the media are totally biased and one-sided which accuse all people wearing black coats for acts of some black coats. The police were there to prevent the untoward acts but have used the occasion to wreck vengeance. They have wantonly destroyed property including all cars of advocates parked inside the building,a attacked women, aged advocates and judges.Justice Manjunath who visited the city civil court complex was himself an eyewitness to the organized violence and destruction initiated by police against lawyers .Some of the media also indulged in violence . While promises were made to High Court.Judges present to prevent further attacks on the advocates housed in the complex and ensure a safe passage of advocates by the government ,the police neither chose to heed the government nor stop their organized violence.all this has no mention of all this intentionally by the media just because some advocates stopped them from crowding the courts.so comments not correct.
Judge knew very well abt lawyers and if he didnt support them, he has
to face same consequences from the law (non) abiding lawyers
So sad the judiciary in India stoops to such low that the senior judges
justify violence as solution if their prayers were left unanswered
immediately.
Should a judge favor unruly lawless lawyers or should they be impartial to make sure that no one breaks law and order?
well sir u are blaming the police for what reason, when your lawyers holded the city for 8 hours where were u then.they have done wrong thing, they must be punished under any law, they have targeted the students who were playing in their college compound what you say for this.as a justice u r there to work for the people for for the your lawyers?????????
