Robbers drilled a hole through a house to gain entry into a jewellery shop adjacent to it on Hongasandra Main Road in Bommanahalli and made away with gold jewels worth several lakh. Investigations revealed that the accused had rented the house just 15 days ago.
According to the police, the accused have been digging since a week. The incident came to light on Friday when the owner of Pawan Jewellers, Bheema Rao, came to the shop and found it ransacked and the valuables missing.
The police rushed to the spot and found the other end of the tunnel lead to the adjacent house. The police later summoned the landlord who said that two persons had taken the house on rent after paying ₹ 15,000 as advance.
The police have some clues on the accused and efforts are on to nab them.
