A city-based software engineer was allegedly beaten up, detained and later robbed by three policemen over a trivial row in K.R.Puram on Wednesday night. The victim, Venki Nallagutla, has filed a complaint with the Deputy Commissioner of Traffic, East division, seeking action.

Venki said that he had parked his car in a no parking zone and three policemen approached him and demanded that he pay the penalty. Heated arguments ensued when he demanded a receipt following which the trio bundled him into K.R.Puram police station and detained him for over six hours, accusing him of misbehaviour.

He alleged that the police later took Rs. 3,000 as fine and also snatched his wallet containing Rs. 40,000 and a gold chain before releasing him in the middle of the night.
