Held for stealing gold bangles

The Commercial Street police have arrested a 56-year-old car lifter and dismissed cop from Bahrain for stealing a set of six gold bangles from a jewellery shop on June 25.

Nazir (56), a native of Kerala and resident of New Gurappanapalya, is a repeat offender and has cases against him in 11 police stations. Police said Nazir used to work as a constable in Bahrain.

Nazir, posing as businessmen, went to Malabar Gold and Diamond shop in Commercial Street and escaped with a pack of six gold bangles concealed in his blazer.

The Commercial Street police who got the CCTV footage identified Nazir and set up a special team to track him down. After giving a hot chase, the police finally nabbed him in the city on Monday.
