With heavy rains lashing the city on Monday night, several low lying areas in the city were marooned; trees and electric poles were uprooted in various parts of the city.
Homes in K. P. Agrahara, Koramangala, Anepalya and Magadi road were affected as rain water clogged inside homes. The situation was worse still in K P Agarahara as rain water gushed into around 150 houses.
Meanwhile, huge trees near BEL circle and Banashankari were uprooted disrupting traffic in the locality. Few vehicles parked on the roadside were also damaged in Banasankari when an electric pole fell down.
Sources said that fire tenders along with the residents struggled to pump out water.
Officials of the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) and Fire and Emergency officials have begun efforts to remove water and take out the trees that have fallen.
Mayor N. Shanthakumari along with Deputy Mayor K. Ranganna carried out an inspection to asses the rain damage and ensure that work is carried out on a fast track basis.
