The Karnataka High Court on Friday rejected a petition filed by former councillor V. Nagaraj and his two sons seeking a probe by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) into the criminal cases registered against them by the Bengaluru police.

Justice Aravind Kumar passed the order while refusing to exercise the extra-ordinary jurisdiction of the court.

Nagaraj , who is under judicial custody along with his sons N. Gandhi and N. Shastri, had sought a CBI probe alleging that false cases were foisted on him to destroy his political career. He alleged that the police have not bothered to question the complainants, who he claimed approached him with demonetised bank notes.

However, a counsel for the prosecution told the court that the petitioners are not co-operating with the investigation while pointing out that demonetised bank notes amounting to ₹14.8 crore were recovered from them.
