The Karnataka High Court on Friday dismissed a public interest litigation (PIL) petition that had sought a direction to the State government and Indian Railways to operate suburban train services in Bangalore.
A Division Bench comprising Chief Justice D.H. Waghela and Justice B.V. Nagarathna declined to accept the petition filed by one Satinderpal Chopra, a senior citizen residing in the city.
Pointing out that an expert body had recommended operation of suburban train services, the petitioner claimed that such a train service would benefit the public in addition to the metro rail service. However, the Bench said the court cannot intervene in such matters.
