HAL chief gets ‘best CEO’ award

R.K. Tyagi, Chairman of Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd, was on Friday conferred the JGBS Top Rankers Excellence Award for the CEO of the year, according to a release issued by the company.

The award is instituted by JGBS or Jindal Global Business School and executive search firm Top Rankers’ Management Consultants, both based in Delhi.

Dr. Tyagi was recognised for playing a key role in 2014 in launching a series of HR, R&D and other initiatives in HAL.

The company said HAL was among top six public sector companies among 180 PSEs assessed by the Department of Public Enterprises.

Milestones were achieved in prominent projects produced or designed by HAL, such as the Light Combat Aircraft, the Light Combat Helicopter, the Light Utility Helicopter and the Su-30 fighter aircraft. On the R&D front, HAL focussed on intellectual property rights; it filed 773 patents in 2014-15, compared to 209 the previous year and 71 in 2012-13.
