Government to felicitate Rao

The State government will give a civic reception to scientist C.N.R. Rao on being named for the Bharat Ratna, the country’s highest civilian honour.

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Sunday visited Prof. Rao at the Indian Institute of Science here and congratulated him and his family. Mr. Siddaramaiah said that the government would hold the function in Bangalore.

Union Minister for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises K.H. Muniyappa also called on Prof. Rao and congratulated him.

In a press release, Karnataka Janata Paksha chief B.S. Yeddyurappa has praised the achievements of Prof. Rao and congratulated him.

Meanwhile, Minister for Information Technology and Bio-technology S.R. Patil has congratulated Prof. Rao.

In a statement here on Sunday, Mr. Patil, who talked to Prof. Rao over phone, said that he deserved all the accolades for his immense contribution to the field of science.

The Minister said, “I also congratulate cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar for his Bharat Ratna. The little master will be remembered setting a high standard in cricket.”
