Government cancels affiliation for nine B.Ed colleges

The State Government has struck down the affiliation of nine blacklisted colleges affiliated to Bangalore University (BU). This is the first time the government has intervened since the controversy surrounding B.Ed colleges affiliated to BU started.

However, the Higher Education Department has clarified that academic activities in these colleges would not be suspended or cancelled till the completion of annual examinations and has directed the university to make arrangements to ensure students from these colleges are transferred to other colleges.

The affiliations of Amitha B.Ed College, Bangalore City College of Education, Rajiv Gandhi College of Education, Unity College of Education, Jnanavikas College of Education, Huliyappa Mallamma B.Ed College, The Regency College of Education, Smt. Manjula Mallesh College of Education and St Joseph’s College of Education have been cancelled from 2011-12.
